Ecstacy and Other Club Drugs
Ecstacy (MDMA) is often taken along with other club drugs at dance clubs, parties and raves. The effects these kind of drugs have on users gives them intoxicating highs that deepen the trance or rave experience and the energy drive experienced by someone on a club drug such as ecstacy enables them to dance energetically for hours at a time. MDMA in particular also has effects on people that make them feel emotionally close to those around them and a sense that everything is going to be all right in the world. Cheap ecstasy is available to those who are looking for low cost drugs which adds to the popularity amongst students and youngsters who plan on taking this dangerous drug.
Among other so called club drugs are Ketamine, Rohypnol and GHB. Rohypnol and GHB are colourless, tasteless substances that can be added to drinks and ingested without a person being aware. Because of this they have been used to spike peoples drinks in recent times and are often reffered to as ‘date rape’ drugs. Anyone caught using these types of drugs to spike a persons drink at a club or party which leads to sexual assault or rape is likely to face extremely serious criminal charges. These types of drugs are central nervous system depressants which can lead to seizures or put someone in a coma if abused. Mixing these drugs with alcohol can result in breathing difficulty, insomnia, tremors and overdoses can even result in death.
Ketamine is a medicaly legal substance that can be snorted much like cocaine or injected. Street names for this type of drug include ‘special K’ and ‘vitamin K’. Users often experience hallucinations and dream like states of mind and high doses can affect a user causing amnesia, delirium, depression, high blood pressure and respiratory problems that can be fatal.
